C section closure and IRP/CQC reports

Below is a copy of a letter about temporary ending of c sections in KGH and Queens for next weeks Recorder, it may need  a rewrite before publication as it seems the IRP and CQC reports might come out today.

Dear Sir

We are stunned by the news that Queens and King Georges are no longer able to offer planned caesarean sections. It is beyond our comprehension why the local NHS management is still saying King George Maternity can be closed and over 7% of the local medical obsterics and gynaecology staff sacked within 4years and women not suffer.

We are looking to orgainse a public meeting to make it clear that we expect ceaserian sections to be brought back to King Georges and Queens as soon as safe practice allows to prevents mums to be and their families having to travel such long distances and to make it clear to Andrew Lansley that the closure of King Georges Maternity would make a bad situation worse.

If you are a member of a local community or faith group who would like to host a public meeting please contact Andy Walker on 07956 263088.

Yours Sincerely

Cllr Ian Bond Leader of Redbridge Liberal Democrats
Mike Gapes MP
Lee Scott MP

Chase Farm Decision

Very concerned to read about Chase Farm decision, it does not mean King George will go the same way, but there are a lot of similarities as the press report below. I visited Chase Farm over the summer when a family member was ill and the staff and patients I meet thought the closure plan mad.

Meeting of 8th July

I will put pictures and Lee Scott video  up tomorrow, but wanted to thank everyone for attending now. I understand the intention is for the BBC to use the film in the politics show on Sunday. However, the phone hacking story is so big now it would not surprise me if the meeting is not covered.

There were some very moving speeches from the floor and it is clear that the overwhelming majority do not want the closure plans to go through.
