Chris Bown, Chief Executive BHRUT
Dear Chris Bown
I would be grateful if you could confirm by 5pm today whether your April 1st guarantee of King George A&E staying open means a type 1 service will continue at our hospital.
Types 2 or 3 will mean a greatly reduced service.
I have set a deadline as a leaflet is to be written tomorrow to publicise our 20th July walk and meeting.
Without a guarantee of type 1, I expect the leaflet will include something like the below:
The wording is a first draft to be discussed with the speakers.
"BHRUT have tricked Cllr Athwal into believing King George A&E is safe.
As a consequence, Cllr Athwal wrote to every household in Redbridge to say our A&E is safe via Redbridge Life.
However, when pressed to say on 2nd July that King George was to continue to provide a full type 1 A&E service, hospital managers declined.
We ask you to come to King George at the Barley Lane entrance for 1.45pm on Saturday 20th July for a photo shoot at 2pm to say our A&E should stay open. It would be great if you could join us for a walk to Ilford Town Hall for a 3pm meeting.
The plan for 1300 new flats at Goodmayes Tesco is typical of the huge population growth being planned for our borough. King George A&E should be expanded not closed, it would be great if you could join us on the 20th July"
Regards
Andy
