Cllr Keith Prince AM letter to Ilford Recorder

Thanks to Keith Prince for writing the  following letter to the Recorder. Fingers crossed it gets published this week!

Dear Sir or Madam

I write to thank everyone attending the Save King George Hospital A&E photo shoot on Saturday to promote the march to Redbridge Town Hall on 18th March 2017 from Valentines Park.

A recent NHS document states that the management of Queens and King George Hospitals has  "committed to developing a Business Case by March 2017" for the closure of our A&E. Also that  "Work is now on-going to finalise the plans and develop supporting assurance to achieve the overnight closure" of our A&E.

In October 2011, the government gave us an assurance that King George A&E would not close until Queens was found to be of a "high standard" by the Care Quality Commission. This is not the case, and I invite readers to join me on 18th March 2017 to remind the government to honour the guarantee that was given to us.

The full text of the NHS document is at http://savekinggeorgehospital.blogspot.co.uk

Regards

Appeal for funding Redbridge Town Hall for Rally on 18th March 2016 using crowdfunding

Aiming to raise monies to hire Redbridge Town Hall for 18th March I have put the following up on https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/andy-walker?utm_id=60&utm_term=Kk7pJ7eMa any donation no matter how small welcome

King George Hospital A&E is under threat of closure. A recently published NHS tender document implies work on producing the closure plan is happening now with the approval process for the A&E closure taking place in March 2017. It is not possible to be more specific as local NHS managers will not answer questions on the tender document which is published at savekinggeorgehospital.blogspot.co.uk
We need to raise £487.50 to help our hospital by this Friday 24th December to secure a booking for Redbridge Town Hall for a Rally on 18th March 2017. The purpose of the Rally and the walk from Valentines Park to the Town Hall is to persuade the powers that be to leave our A&E alone. A further £1462.50 will need to be raised by 17th January . The target is 5% higher to cover some of the website costs.
Back in 2011 when the A&E closure plan was passed, the Government give us a guarantee that our A&E would not be closed. We were told our A&E was safe:
"until the Care Quality Commission, which published its own report on local services today, has assured the Secretary of State that the services provided by Queen’s Hospital and other local health services are of a high standard."
This is not the case, Queens is failing to hit the 95% A&E 4 hour safety threshold and it is missing cancer and other benchmarks and there is also an ongoing investigation into higher than expected pneumonia deaths at Queens and King George. Help fund the rally on the 18th March 2017 to say to our Government that the guarantee that was given to us on 27 October 2011 must be honoured.
The speakers at the rally include:
Cllr Jas Athwal: Leader of Redbridge Council
Keith Prince: Greater London Assembly Member for Redbridge and Havering:
Wes Streeting: MP for Ilford North:
